Rush

I was at Jared's house night before last. Saturday was this week's LAN; let me tell you, I'm never going to get tired of those things. I could do them every week, hell, I could do them twice a week and still have just as much fun. So far we've had both of them at Jared's house, but I'm going to try and find a way for me to host them at my place. Jared's house is fine, it's just that I don't think that Jared's parents are going to be keen on us doing this every weekend. It isn't that I don't have the space, it's just that I don't have a way for him to get internet access from inside my room. I'll try and figure something out.

Quake III has become our game of choice. We still play a good amount of Counter-Strike, but we played far more Q3 than we did CS. Quake 3 is probably better for LANs anyway; high speed games are more fun with less people. We recorded a demo of us running through Q3DM1 with God mode and unlimited Quad-Damage with the BFG10K. Jared reached 300 kills in about five minutes, I wasn't too far behind, either; I think I racked up about ~285. It was mad fun. I watch the demo we made and I remember the awesome time we had.
We've also found our new LAN drink. "Sobe Adrenaline Rush" is now our (or at least my) LAN fuel of choice. That stuff will keep you front and center. I only wish I bought more. Jared talked me into buying a can of "Starbuck's DoubleShot". I don't like that stuff. I should have bought like four cans of Adrenaline Rush, then I wouldn't have fallen asleep at five in the morning. Staying up until five in the morning may sound like a feat to some people, but when you're at a LAN, the goal is to bust out and all-nighter and keep it going well into the next day. If I had a can of Adrenaline Rush when I started falling asleep, I would have been ready to Rock n' Roll until three that afternoon. The funny thing is that Adrenaline Rush actually tastes good. Red Bull gets you juiced, but it isn't exactly tasty. I'm going to stock up on this stuff next week.
I brought that check my mom made out into Reel-Time and asked if I could break the check and get my change back so I could go elsewhere and buy food for the LAN. They said that they would break it if I bought something, anything would do. I was looking around the shop, just trying to find the least expensive thing I could. A fig bar, a piece of gum, something small like that. I ended up buying two comic books for 3.95 apiece. I know you're thinking "Wha? Least expensive? There have to be things in there for $.25!" I know, I know. But these are Devil May Cry comics. You know, like the video game. No? Ah, well. You don't have to understand for them to be awesome. As a matter of fact, I liked them so much that I stopped by the store again on my way home so I could buy the third one. I haven't read them all yet, but it would seem as though they're current. The last page of the third one advertises for "September swag", and then shows a bunch of cool shirts and hats. Seeing as it's September, I assume the fourth issue isn't out yet. The artwork in them is amazingly good. The sort of stuff that makes me realize that I absolutely suck at drawing. I couldn't even think up stuff that looks this good. I know it's possible to practice and learn to be moderately good with a pencil, but the guy that draws these comics has God-given talent the likes of which I'll never even come close to attaining. I'll make some mad high-quality scans when I get home today so I can show you how cool they are.
As you probably know, Jared just sort of gave me an entire computer a few weeks ago. He also gave a monitor, as my old one was horrible for gaming. It was damn-near impossible to put a high quality picture on it without it either getting really fuzzy, or just popping and turning off. Well, I figured as long as I had and extra monitor around, and I had an extra VGA adapter in my old computer, I might as well throw the old card in my new box and hook up the monitor. Now I've go monitors akimbo in my room. Don't get my wrong, my old monitor still sucks, but its alright for opening a media player on while I play games or do other things on my main monitor. I haven't really tried anything spiffy yet. The idea to try it struck me at about nine last night, so I only had an hour to set them up an see if they worked; on top of that I had to take a shower and do the dishes before bed at ten. I had just enough time to set them up, plug them in, and see that everything worked. They do, and they're awesome.
Wow. This is quite possibly the longest entry I've written to date. I'm impressed. I'll stop now and wrap it up. Peace.
